Downtown Madisonville has come alive with festive fall decorations, thanks to the combined efforts of local donors and the Downtown Madisonville Alliance committees. This year, to help downtown prepare for the fall season, generous donations made the transformation extra special. Trey Dyer contributed corn stalks from the farm, which he helped cut, along with the City's maintenance department who then transported them to downtown.  CASA Monroe donated 30 bales of hay following their annual rodeo event, giving downtown a warm, rustic touch. Volunteers from the community, active in the Events committee, came together to decorate downtown with these donated items while volunteers from the Design committee and 2:20 Electric, LLC transformed the Christmas tree on the City Hall lawn into a stunning fall spectacle!   Adding to the charm, the Scarecrow Stroll contest brought a whimsical display of 40 creatively crafted scarecrows lining the streets, creating a fun and festive atmosphere for visitors and locals to enjoy while they pick their favorites to win by voting online.  We have some very creative people in our area!

Volunteers have worked hard, not only to decorate downtown streets but to also introduce new and exciting elements to downtown.  One exciting addition is a brand-new focal point added by the DMA Design Committee and decorated by the City: a 12.5-foot "county seat," built to serve as an inviting photo opportunity for visitors. You can find the seat on Tellico Street at the stone building located beside Memorial Park.  Look for signage to be placed on the County Seat soon.  Another addition is ten new rocking chairs purchased by the Design Committee to bring the slogan, “Come Sit With Us In The County Seat,” created by the Promotions Committee, to life, offering a perfect place to relax and enjoy the crisp fall air.    The DMA is also excited to announce an opportunity for business owners in the area to promote themselves by sponsoring a rocking chair, and having their business info on a plaque attached to a chair.  For more info on sponsoring a chair send us an email!

Adding to the excitement and economic vitality of downtown, the Promotions and Events committees worked hard to bring a new event to downtown.  The first "Fall Crawl" event provided exclusive benefits to ticket holders while also providing opportunities to non-ticket holders to enjoy the first hint of fall in downtown.  This successful "support-local" event resulted in an economic boost of over $7,000 to downtown retail in one three and half hour evening!   The beautifully adorned storefronts, unique shopping deals, and a strong sense of community, left Fall Crawl attendees wanting more and encouraging a Spring Crawl event.
